SA: Memorial Books to honour Don Dunstan
ADELAIDE, Feb 10 AAP - South Australians have been invited to record their appreciation of
the life of former premier Don Dunstan in a series of Memorial Books.
Mr Dunstan, 72, died early on Saturday morning after a long battle with lung cancer and a
small, private funeral was held yesterday.
A public ceremony planned for Friday is expected to be attended by about 10,000 people,
including former prime ministers Gough Whitlam and Bob Hawke.
Labor state secretary Ian Hunter said the demand for tickets to Friday's celebration was so
great that some people would inevitably miss out.
He said the books, one of which would be in the office of each of his party's state and
federal MPs, would give everyone a chance to record their thoughts about Mr Dunstan.
Mr Hunter said the books would then be presented to Mr Dunstan's family as a permanent
record of the esteem in which he was held.
