Edgar King, a staunch opponent of county plans to build a landfill on productive farmland, appeared headed to victory in the race for town supervisor Tuesday as part of a Democratic sweep of town Republican incumbents.
Unofficial figures showed King handily ahead of Republican Supervisor Carl Seymour by a vote of 755 to 397.
Democratic Town Board challengers Gary Sherman and Richard Colozza also appeared to be winning over Republican incumbents Herman Herber and Guy Murphy. And incumbent Democratic Highway Superintendent George Corlew defeated Thomas Wood. Vote totals in those races, however, were not immediately …
