Wolfgang Wacker Takes Over at Pick(R)Sat Inc.; Will Focus on Restructuring and Expansion.

MIAMI, April 27 /PRNewswire/ --

Wolfgang Wacker, an executive noted for achieving quick turnarounds for underperforming companies, has been named Interim CEO of PICK(R)Sat Inc., a provider of satellite-based broadband Internet services. "We are extremely fortunate to have attracted a management talent of the level of Wolfgang Wacker," said Diego Leiva, chairman of PICK(R)Sat and its parent company, PICK Communications Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: PICK). "With our technology in place, we now are ready for a take-charge international executive who can lead PICK(R)Sat to the next stage," said Leiva.

Wacker led Mannesmann Pipe and Steel's worldwide coke/coal trading operations to $300 million in annual sales, with an order backlog of $1 billion, a 75 percent market share in the U.S. coke market. He is a native of Germany with deep roots in the worldwide oil and steel industries, representing U.S. Steel Corp. in the Mideast, Far East and Russia. Wacker achieved during this time the turn around of Metallhuette Luebeck (Germany), formerly owned by Flick and United States Steel Corp., from bankruptcy into a company with DM100 million ($60 million) in annual sales and a profit of DM6 million ($4 million) per year.

Now based in Fairfield, Conn., Wacker expressed enthusiasm for the challenge of restructuring and expanding the capital base for this high-tech Internet company. "I am convinced that the PICK(R)Sat technology will do what its developers intended it would do, and I have seen firsthand that customers, especially in Latin America and the Middle and Far East, are ready for these services. PICK(R)Sat can and will deliver," he said. Wacker said his compensation will be solely in stock options.

Wacker's first priorities are to broaden the company's capital base and assemble a management team for the worldwide deployment of the Internet ventures.

PICK(R)Sat services include Fuego(TM), a broad-band Internet access designed for home use through existing cable television operations, and SkyRelay(TM), which provides bandwidth to corporate local-area networks (LANs) and Internet service providers (ISPs). Other branded service products are expected to be announced later this year.

Last year the company divested its telephony subsidiaries in order to concentrate on its Internet services.

PICK(R)Sat's SkyRelay(TM) service was first demonstrated live in the GlobalXchange/Telia booth at Comdex '99 in Miami last September. SkyRelay(TM) is a cost-effective, satellite-delivered, high-speed Internet solution. GlobalXchange was PICK(R)Sat's first reseller of the SkyRelay(TM) product, which is targeted to ISPs, corporations, government agencies, schools, hotels and other users throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, and users in the United States where land lines for high-speed Internet access are either costly or unavailable.

PICK Communications Corp., headquartered in Miami, Fla., operates Miami-based PICK(R)Sat, Inc., which provides satellite-based broadband Internet access, and PICK Online.Com Inc., a multimedia-content aggregator for ISPs and broadband networks with its primary service PICK Radio, with more than 850 radio stations worldwide.
