NSW: Dead celebrity fixation short-listed for literary prize

A first-time author's tale about two Los Angeles teenagers obsessed with celebrity
death has been short-listed for Australia's richest literary awards.

In KATHY CHARLES' book Hollywood Ending .. the two main characters visit places of
famous death .. including the place where MARILYN MONROE died.

Other finalists for the 2010 NSW Premier's Literary Awards include indigenous leader
NOEL PEARSON .. Walkley Award-winning journalist PAUL MCGEOUGH and Oscar Award-winning
filmmaker JANE CAMPION.

The winners will be announced on May 17.
