Fed: Rudd delivers formal 'sorry' to parliament=18
Dr Nelson said in his oral history "The Wailing", Stuart Rintoul had recorded the pain
of an Aboriginal woman from Walgett who told of a family being taken away and a small
girl aged about six crying as she disappeared on the back of a mission truck.
He said it was reasonably argued that removal from squalor led to better lives with
children fed, housed and educated.
"No-one should bring a sense of moral superiority to this debate in seeking to diminish
the view that good in many cases was sought be done," he said.
"This is a complex issue."
